The solution for successful turfcare you might not have considered

Sport is competitive - and not just for the players. For greenkeepers and grounds teams, creating the perfect playing surface means mastering the latest machinery, irrigation, and technology.

When striving for peak results in the turfcare industry, success isn’t just about having the right equipment – it’s about partnering with the right brands, businesses and people.

There are so many factors to consider when choosing who to partner with for your turfcare equipment and irrigation. Performance, reliability and technology will likely lead the list, with aftercare, sustainability and backup support a close second. But we think there may be one that is less often considered, mainly because it’s not commonly found.

Systems designed to work together

Imagine how much easier turfcare management would be if there was intentional compatibility for all your turfcare requirements. If you could buy a complete system that is designed from the outset to work together, not a collection of parts put together.

Better turf quality

Using the same manufacturer for machinery and irrigation means there’s intent behind the scenes for the equipment to work together, everything is built around a shared agronomic philosophy prioritising compatibility, precision and consistency. This can remove a lot of friction that can quietly affect turf over time.

Irrigation isn’t just about applying water

Effective water application is about applying the right amount at the right time, effortlessly. With one manufacturer: irrigation scheduling aligns with mowing practices, water isn’t wasted fighting compaction or poor mowing patterns, when the equipment can be trusted to prepare the turf surface adequately, irrigation is much easier and far more efficient.

Prioritising partnership over transactional buying

Customers considering both turfcare machinery and irrigation will be thinking of the long-term performance gains, not one-off immediate solutions. They are consciously thinking about the most efficient way to manage their whole equipment needs, simplifying the process, focusing on partnership and economies of scale for a more unified approach.

Toro offers the solution

The Toro Company has a world-class unique selling point: it is the only manufacturer to offer customers dedicated turfcare machinery and irrigation for the complete care of their turf.

With Toro, customers have the option to invest in both:

  • Toro turfcare machinery (e.g. wide-area mowers, cylinder mowers, out-front rotary mowers, greens or fairway mowers and utility vehicles)
  • Toro irrigation systems (e.g. central control systems, sprinklers, decoders and related components)

Rather than simply purchasing machinery or irrigation on their own, customers can opt for an integrated package, a single coordinated solution which, just like the individual components, is supported in the UK by distributor Reesink UK providing further ‘local’ support and financing, giving customers a consistent, full-service approach to maintaining high-quality turf and landscape environments.

Why customers opt for a Toro Total Solution

There is a term given to customers who choose both Toro machinery and irrigation, they are known as ‘Toro Total Solutions’ customers. They have chosen to adopt Toro’s full suite of complementary products and services to provide a comprehensive maintenance solution for the complete care of the turf. These are customers who are looking for the right combination of precision, performance, reliability and technology for every element required in delivering best-in-class turf conditions.

The Toro Total Solutions approach

simplifies procurement and maintenance, considers complete turf performance, and through Reesink can include tailored financing and service/support agreements so the customer manages turf and irrigation holistically rather than through separate suppliers.

Being a Toro Total Solutions customer typically means:

  • Integrated systems that work together - e.g., irrigation control synced with turfcare schedules.
  • One brand and support network across both machinery and irrigation, which can simplify maintenance and service.
  • Often better financing options and ongoing support as part of a package rather than standalone purchases.

St Andrews Links

A club like St Andrews Links will go through an extensive 18-month review process in which greenkeepers test a full range of equipment from several manufacturers before deciding on which brand to choose for the club’s turf equipment and irrigation products. The reason St Andrews has been a dedicated Total Solutions customer for 25 years is because they routinely prove that they can rely on Toro to deliver on players’ expectations and demands for the best possible course conditions.

With the responsibility to not only provide great playing conditions year-round, but to also manage the historic courses in a responsible and environmentally conscious way, Toro has been a decades-long valued partner to St Andrews in its efforts to implement sustainable practices, particularly in the electrification of its mower fleet and the continued improvement in its irrigation systems. Toro shares St Andrews Links’ commitment to the future and through innovating to meet the needs of a changing marketplace.

Royal Dornoch

Royal Dornoch recently celebrated the handover of a £1.5 million Toro irrigation system for its Struie Course and the arrival of a fleet of all-electric ride-on Toro Greensmaster mowers and Workman utility vehicles in its most recent Toro update in an enduring relationship spanning decades.

General Manager Neil Hampton explains why it is Toro again: “Toro performs all day, every day for us. It takes a lot of stress away knowing you do not have to worry about that aspect of the business. We’ve always been able to trust Toro. There’s reliability in terms of performance as well as Toro always being at the forefront of new machinery research and development. As the expectations of golfers continue to increase, we need to provide the best conditions for play, and we can do that with Toro.”

Cabot Highlands

Toro machinery and irrigation has been instrumental in the build of its new Old Petty course and the maintenance of the renowned Castle Stuart course.

For Course Manager James Hutchison a new course build, world-class golf conditions to maintain and a reputation to uphold are all part of the day job. With a Toro Total Solution agreement, he has a fleet of Toro machinery, a new irrigation system and back up support from Reesink Scotland to make the job easier.

James comments: “There are over eight Cabot-managed courses across the world using Toro, but we still did extensive research and testing when it came to deciding what would work best for our new course and how to bring the latest technology onto our Castle Stuart course. With so much riding on the opening as well as maintaining Castle Stuart’s position in the top 100, we knew we needed Toro to guarantee success and allow us to continue competing for our place.”

Coventry Hearsall

Coventry Hearsall Golf Club has been a Toro machinery customer for thirteen years and a Toro Total Solutions customer for seven. As the club takes on another machinery renewal agreement with Reesink Turfcare, it provides an update on what it’s like to be exclusively Toro.

“I’ve worked with Toro before and being with the same brand for machinery and irrigation makes everything really easy,” says Course Manager Chris Low. “The main components of quality, reliability and performance are applicable to both, and having one point of contact, good back up and support and the power of competitive finance in addition means it’s a hard deal to beat.”

Chris says it would be wrong to underestimate the power of a Toro Total Solution: “Regular investment in the machinery and an irrigation system that allows for consistent year-round coverage does not go unnoticed by the members. They are happy and membership is full.”
