Toro Compact Triples for St Paul’s

hayter mowersWhen the two Hayter LT324s needed to be replaced at St Paul's Catholic School, Milton Keynes the grounds maintenance team carried out a thorough review of the mowers available and settled on the new Toro CT2140s. Grounds Maintenance Manager, Alex Shore said 'we visited factories and drove a lot of mowers.

Apart from the obvious quality and cost requirements, our rather varied operation calls for versatility and manoeuvrability, plus we are aiming to be at the fine end, top of the range sports turf. These new compact triples came out on top.'

St Paul's is extremely keen on sport with 1600 students playing football (3 pitches), rugby (2), cricket plus nets , netball and tennis on the 5 hectare site. In addition to the grounds maintenance, the team is heavily involved in the academic side of the school. St Paul's runs horticultural courses and the grounds maintenance team helps with lectures and practical demonstrations with a considerable degree of success.

An important development in Alex Shore's two years at the school has been success in winning outside contracts. So far the St Paul's team has won grounds maintenance contracts from four other schools and is planning to expand this economically important activity further.

Alex's career has included working at Woburn Golf Club and, in 2004, winning the Toro Student of the Year award. This included study and factory experience in the USA. Commenting on the new compact triples, Alex said 'they cope with bollards and get us very close to trees and under them plus they go easily on the trailer for our outside contracts. We are working them hard and I know we shall continue to get great support from Hayter and our dealer George Browns.'
