Touching tribute to man who led a remarkable life in sport
A touching tribute has been paid to a man who led a remarkable sporting life, including playing football under Brian Clough and once being the country's youngest greenkeeper.
John Hinton, from Barnard Castle, lost a short battle against cancer last summer, aged 56.
Mr Hinton was a greenkeeper at Barnard Castle Golf Club for more than 20 years.
He also played football for Hartlepool United when the legendary manager Brian Clough was in charge.
Mr Hinton enjoyed several other sports, including skiing, and was a boxer in his youth.
