Wolves get a gold and black ‘Arrow’

Grounds staff at Wolverhampton Wanderers FC played a key advisory role in the development of a new line marking machine - the Supaturf Briteliner - now in full production at Vitax Supaurf and already achieving sales to both major stadia and local sports clubs throughout the world.

As a mark of their appreciation for the part played by the Wolves grounds staff, Vitax Supaturf produced a special 'one-off' edition of the new Briteliner Arrow in gold and black, the Wolves colours, and recently presented it to Head Groundsman Wayne Lumbard and his team on the pitch at Molineux.

Efficient and effective line marking is vital in any sport, but particularly for Premiership clubs where games are televised.

"What our discussions with the grounds staff at Wolves revealed was that they really wanted a simple and cost effective machine that would produce bright, white lines consistently and accurately," said Mike King, Sales Manager for Vitax Supaturf. "What they said they needed was an updated, more efficient version of the original mechanical transfer-wheel line marker, and that's what our design team set about developing."

The result is the Briteliner Arrow, a more effective, lighter, easier-to-use and more accurate version of the original transfer-wheel marker. It combines a whole host of design improvements, which are being patented, together with modern materials which make it much easier to handle and keep clean.

"The Briteliner Arrow provides major stadia with everything they need to achieve perfect, bright white lines for big events but at the same time has attracted attention from smaller clubs and municipal grounds staff because it is so cost effective and easy to use. Despite all the design improvements, it actually costs less than earlier versions," said Mike King.

The new machine has already attracted attention from major clubs in the UK, Europe and even further afield and at the same time is being ordered by many contractors who look after smaller clubs and municipal sports grounds.

"The input and advice from the grounds staff at Wolves helped make the process of developing the new machine and bringing it to market much easier," said Mike King. "We hope they enjoy using their own special version of the Briteliner Arrow."
