Wonderful Workshop means lean machines
A six-figure investment in a state-of-the-art machining facility at Dennis' headquarters in Derby will speed production and enable the progressive company to make many more components in-house. This follows the introduction of a total LEAN manufacturing programme.
The sophisticated installation includes three new computer-controlled Haas CNC lathes and milling machines, which will enable components to be produced with great precision and with a very fast turn around, so customers' orders can be processed very quickly. Made in the US, Haas are a very innovative US company renowned for high quality value for money equipment.
Dennis' Managing Director, Ian Howard, sees this as part of a continuing commitment to British engineering with the highest quality standards. "I am very reluctant to outsource manufacture of components overseas for our professional quality machinery, as in practice it becomes difficult to monitor the condition and integrity of individual items.
This exciting new development will also expand the Derby-based company's workforce. A dedicated Production Manager, Pat Craven has been appointed to oversee the new facility, and other recruits will follow.
As well as quality, Dennis has established a reputation for innovation and ingenuity. Amongst its most successful products is the FT range of pedestrian mowers, which accept quick-change attachments that enable grounds care professionals to undertake other essential tasks with the one machine, from scarifying and verti-cutting, to brushing and grooming.
This latest investment will maintain Dennis' position at the forefront of turf machinery manufacture.
