World Cup pitches to be prepared using Ransomes Jacobsen equipment
With the FIFA World Cup in Germany fast approaching, many of the stadia being used for the competition are undergoing major refurbishment and transformation for the start of the tournament in June.
The global spectacle will feature 32 teams playing a total of 64 matches before the winners emerge in the final at the spectacular Olympiastadion in Berlin on 9th July.
All of the stadium pitches will be re-laid before the beginning of the tournament using 240,000 m2 of new turf, which is currently being grown in the Netherlands and Germany. Much of this will be prepared on match days using equipment supplied by Ransomes Jacobsen, the Ipswich-based turf maintenance equipment manufacturer.
The Ransomes Mastiff is a walk-behind mower with a 91cm cutting width and is renowned as the 'gold standard' for the preparation of football pitches. Many of UK's leading football clubs use it as their preferred mower.
Alfons Gottemeyer of The Turf Care Co GmbH, the distributor of Ransomes Jacobsen equipment in Germany comments,
"As a nation we are very proud to be hosting the World Cup, but as a company we are delighted that many of the stadiums will be using Ransomes Jacobsen equipment supplied by us. We have recently supplied Ransomes Mastiffs to the stadia in Cologne and Dortmund, especially for World Cup matches. Many others already use our equipment"
The complete list of stadia using Ransomes Jacobsen equipment is: Volkspark Stadion, Hamburg; Niedersachsenstadion, Hannover; Westfalenstadion, Dortmund; Olympiastadion, Berlin; Arena auf Schalke, Gelsenkirchen; Frankenstadion, Nuremberg and World Cup stadium, Cologne.
