Writtle College Undergraduates awarded National Certificates from the IOG
Seven Turf Grass Agronomy students studying degree courses at Writtle College, Chelmsford, were recently awarded the Institute of Groundsmanship's (IOG) National Practical Certificate in Turf Establishment and Maintenance.
The students, Noel Duffy, Andrew Wenham, Mark Rear, Jack Maltby, Ed Johnson, Rob Kind and Ricardo Candeias, received this nationally recognised award while studying Horticulture and Sports Turf and Golf Course Management degrees at Writtle College on a full-time basis.
Degree programmes at Writtle College have an emphasis on science, technology and management subjects. However, in order to ensure that graduates are suitably skilled and have necessary technical knowledge to fulfil the requirements of employers in the Sports Turf and Amenity Horticulture industries, students are still taught and assessed on practical skills in turf and horticultural maintenance tasks. Students at the College are also able to benefit from a full year working in the industry with sports turf and golf club employers throughout the UK, Europe and USA, giving them the opportunity to develop strong practical skills for the world of work once they graduate.
