Groundskeeper

The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a reliable and hard-working Groundskeeper to join our team at our beautiful, family-run golfing facility in the South Staffordshire countryside.

This is a full-time permanent position (40 hours per week). The working week will include weekend work during the summer months to ensure the course and grounds are presented to a high standard for our visitors.

Salary is competitive and depends on experience.

About Us

Halfpenny Green is a welcoming, family-friendly pay-as-you-play golf facility offering a 9-hole course (18 tees), Par 3 course, floodlit driving range, putting greens, practice areas and Footgolf. Set in attractive countryside near Wolverhampton, Dudley and Birmingham, we pride ourselves on providing an excellent golfing experience in a friendly, relaxed environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the golf course, tees, greens, fairways, rough, bunkers, pathways and surrounding grounds to a high standard
• Operate and maintain grounds equipment (mowers, tractors, hand tools, etc.)
• Carry out routine tasks including mowing, strimming, raking bunkers, changing pins/cups, moving tee markers and general course presentation
• Assist with irrigation, fertilising, weed control and general turf care
• Keep practice areas, driving range outfield, pathways and car parks tidy and safe
• Report equipment issues and carry out basic maintenance where required
• Work safely and follow all health and safety procedures
• Support other grounds and site tasks as needed, especially during busy periods and seasonal peaks

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in groundskeeping, greenkeeping, landscaping or a related outdoor role is preferred but not essential – a strong work ethic and willingness to learn are most important
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Physically fit and capable of manual work
• Reliable, flexible and able to work weekends during the summer months
• Good team player with a positive, can-do attitude
• Full UK driving licence advantageous
• Own transport preferred due to the rural location
