Are you an experienced Groundsperson with a passion for delivering outstanding sports surfaces and maintaining exceptional outdoor spaces?

Hampton School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Groundsperson to join our skilled Grounds Team. Situated on a stunning 28-acre site in South West London, Hampton offers some of the finest sports facilities in the independent school sector, supporting a thriving programme of cricket, rugby, football and athletics. 

About the Role

As a key member of the Grounds Team, you will help maintain:

  • 23 acres of sports fields and outdoor spaces
  • 7 cricket wickets
  • 8 football pitches
  • 4 rugby pitches
  • Tennis courts, athletics facilities, cricket nets and wider landscaped grounds
  • Additional sites across the Trust, including Hampton Prep, Hampton Pre-Prep and the Millennium Boathouse.

You will prepare and maintain sports surfaces to the highest standards, assist with fixture preparation, operate grounds machinery, and contribute to the ongoing development of the Trust's outdoor environment.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has at least two years' grounds maintenance experience
  • Holds a Level 2 Groundsman qualification (or equivalent)
  • Has experience preparing high-quality cricket wickets
  • Can maintain football, rugby and cricket facilities
  • Is self-motivated, organised and reliable
  • Works effectively as part of a team
  • Has a positive, professional and proactive attitude.

Desirable Qualifications

  • PA1, PA2 and PA6 certificates
  • LANTRA or NPTC machinery qualifications
  • First Aid certification
  • Experience with drainage and irrigation systems
  • Experience working within school or sports club environments.

Hours

  • Monday to Thursday: 6:30am to 2:45pm
  • Friday: 6:30am to 1:30pm
  • Approximately 8 Saturdays per year (with time off in lieu)
  • Seasonal adjustments as required.
