Blyth Spartans splash out on new water storage
Blyth Spartans, the Evo Stik Northern Premier League side has just completed phase two of its water harvesting scheme at their Croft Park ground.
The project, which collects rain water in giant butts, means there is a ready supply of water for the pitch.
The club's groundsman Peter Henderson, who was shortlisted for a national Groundsman of the Year award, is overseeing the project.
Phase 2 has increased the capacity by 300 per cent to 8,000 litres.
A club spokesperson said: "Phase 3 will subsequently see the Tynetec Stand, at the Plessey Road end of the ground, included in the scheme."
