Community Star award for groundsman

A Barmouth man has received special recognition for his outstanding work in the community by winning a community star award.

The prizes, which have been divided into three different categories, celebrate the success of individuals who have gone the extra mile to help their neighbours or their local communities.

Nominations were received from tenants, Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd (CCG) staff, councillors and other members of the public, and now the winners have been presented with a cash prize and certificates by the chief executive of CCG, Ffrancon Williams.

Michael Triggs, of Hafan Deg, was the winner of the green award, who maintains the ground at Hafan Deg. Michael, who was one of five winners of the community star award, says he takes pride in ensuring the site always looks neat and tidy.
