Great Turf for Greener Iceland

Editorin Industry News

Grastec ehf, one of Iceland's leading fertiliser suppliers, is now offering Icelandic turf managers a range of natural turf nutrition products manufactured by The Great Turf Company. The range forms part of The Great Turf Company's 'Activated Microbial Turf Management' programme, a unique approach to turf care which prioritises turf health by natural means to create and maintain a healthy soil environment, which is key to healthy turf.

Very few countries in the world are as inherently sustainable as Iceland. Last year the country's golf industry demonstrated its commitment to preserving the natural environment with all 62 of Iceland's golf clubs pledging to achieve the GEO CertifiedTM award - the internationally recognised ecolabel for golf. And now turf managers have a greener option for turf nutrition with The Great Turf Company's natural products.

The products, which include The Great Turf Company's carbohydrate-based nutritional treatments, MolTurf and FerroCarb+ as well as seaweed liquid product, Goёmar Turf, are designed to restore and maintain turfgrass and soil biology by natural means for enhanced turfgrass health and performance, as well as greater resistance to harsh conditions, such as freezing in winter.

Brynjar Sæmundsson, Managing Director of Grastec, said: "Turfgrass surfaces in Iceland suffer winterkill on a horrendous scale, but The Great Turf Company's biological treatments will help to protect the turf during the winter months so that grass will be in healthier condition come spring."

Brynjar is a previous student of Ian Macmillan MG, who is a Director of The Great Turf Company. Ian said: "It gives us great pleasure to work with Grastec to take Activated Microbial Turf Management to Iceland, where biology is the final jigsaw piece for greener golf and stronger, healthier turf."

With distributors Grønt AS in Norway, LMI in Sweden, and now Grastec in Iceland, The Great Turf Company's Activated Microbial Turf Management continues to inspire Scandinavian turf managers to put biology at the centre of turfgrass management.
