Campey Turf Care Systems were delighted to let Leicestershire and England International cricketer Matthew Hoggard test out the renowned Koro Field Top Maker on the back of a New Holland tractor, at the first MapLive demonstration day at Stoneleigh Park.

Simon Gumbrill, Sales Director had given a short presentation earlier in the day relaying the Campey ethos of encouraging best practice by using the best turf maintenance equipment available.

This was followed by a talk by Matthew Hoggard in which he displayed an in-depth knowledge of groundsmanship. As an International player he has always been interested in everything that affects his game, but it was his role as captain that inspired him to study the wickets in minute detail in order to choose the right team for every game, wherever it was played.

Matthew gave a heartfelt plea to groundsman to continue to strive to produce the best playing surfaces possible especially for grass root sports. "There is nothing that gives you greater confidence than knowing that the surface you are playing on is the best it could be."

Afterwards, Simon invited Matthew to come along to the Campey demonstration area and put some of the equipment through their paces. He readily agreed and appeared to enjoy every minute of it.

Other equipment demonstrations that proved popular with the visitors included the Koro Field Top Maker, Imants shockwave and the new Votex VT420 compact high-tipping vacuum trailer.

The next MapLive event will be held at the South of England Showground at Ardingly, on the 15th May.
