Jacobsen Orange is the colour at Broome Park

Broome Park Golf Club, situated within a 268 acre estate, eight miles south of Canterbury in Kent, has increased its turf maintenance fleet with new equipment purchased from local Ransomes Jacobsen dealer, Ernest Doe & Sons.

Course Manager Chris Latham has been with the club for the past 28 years and this season he has added equipment with a retail value in excess of £125,000 to his fleet. New additions include a greens mower, a tees and surrounds mower, a fairway mower, a diesel powered utility vehicle, a smaller petrol-driven utility vehicle and a 47hp tractor.

"We particularly like the quality of cut we get from the Jacobsen G-Plex greens mower," Chris said. "The backlapping facility is also very useful. We have wide fairways here and the Jacobsen Fairway 305 is great and the operator comfort is excellent."

Graeme Robins is the Golf Manager at Broome Park and he is responsible for the day-to-day management at the club.

"We had demonstrations from all the major manufacturers," he said, "and after trialing by our greenkeeping team, we chose the Ransomes Jacobsen package. The agreement was sanctioned by our new owners, Diamond Resorts International, who are based in Las Vegas and are committed to the long term future of the club. We have over 600 members and also encourage visiting societies; our aim is to provide the very best facilities in the region. The new management is backing us in every way."

Broome Park Golf Club was designed by Donald Steel and opened in 1981. The 18-hole parkland course plays 6,580 yards from the white tees with a par of 72. The Broome Park Estate, established during the reign of King Charles I, features a magnificent Mansion House, in which is situated the clubhouse.
