Leaderboard commit to E-Z-GO’S RXV golf car

Leaderboard, one of the leading golf course management companies in the south of England, has selected E-Z-GO as its preferred supplier of golf cars. This was demonstrated recently with the delivery of 40 buggies to the group's Dale Hill Hotel and Golf Club at Ticehurst, near Wadhurst in East Sussex.

Dale Hill is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the heart of the Sussex Weald and features two 18-hole golf courses; the Old course built in 1972 complemented by the 1993-built Woosnam course, both set in 350 acres of undulating hills and historic woodland.

The sale of the buggies was facilitated by Golf Car UK, E-Z-GO's distributor based in Amesbury, Wiltshire in conjunction with Foremost Golf, the largest buyer and seller of golf products in the UK. Last year these two companies signed a strategic agreement to provide golf club owners, managers and professionals with value added golf car packages.

As a result of the Golf Car UK-Foremost package, the Leaderboard golf cars feature a range of E-Z-GO accessories, setting them apart from traditional buggies and providing excellent added value for the members and visitors using the vehicles at Dale Hill.

David Colyer, a director of Leaderboard said,"We were introduced to Golf Car UK after working in partnership with Foremost Golf to develop the Leaderboard Tee Times website. There was a natural synergy between the three businesses and it has proved a natural fit.

"The E-Z-GO RXV is an excellent golf car and with the enhancements offered in the package, it makes the fleet stand out from the norm. Long term the innovations such as the AC electric drivetrain and regenerative braking, which puts power back into the batteries every time the brakes are applied, will help us reduce running costs. With a least two rounds per overnight charge, we are in a position to maximise our revenue stream from the fleet.

Prior to the purchase of Dale Hill by Leaderboard in 2001, the previous owners had taken a US-based approach and ruled that the Woosnam course would be a buggy-only course, with the buggy hire included in the green fee. Back then most members and guests preferred to walk, so the Old course took a majority of the footfall and suffered as a consequence. Following the Leaderboard purchase this rule was relaxed, smoothing out the play on both courses and as a result the Old course emerges from out the winter months in much better condition than previously.

"The decision has resulted in a reduction of the number of golf cars we operate," Colyer added, "but it won't impact on our members or visitors, as we have a flexible agreement with Golf Car UK, which will supplement the fleet with additional buggies in times of peak demand.

"This epitomises the need for a high level of customer service, which is an important factor in any agreement and to date the service levels from Golf Car UK have been fantastic; I'm confident in the longer term they will continue to be easy to do business with."

A further 20 E-Z-GO RXV buggies are due for delivery, when a new hotel overlooking the 11th green and 12th tee on The Wood course at Leaderboard's Sandford Springs Golf Club opens its doors in September. With 40 rooms including one suite, nine superior rooms and 30 standard rooms all with en-suite facilities, this new four star hotel demonstrates Leaderboard's continued commitment to providing the ultimate golfing experience.
