Leading experts combine to offer the total sports turf solution

A new organisation is set to become the UK's leading sports turf consultancy body. Total Turf Solutions Ltd, founded by David Bates and Alan Lewis NDT. F.inst.Gcreates a forum for the industries leading experts to work together to raise standards, promote modernisation and improve the reputation of groundsmen.

The team offers an unprecedented amalgamation of practical experience and technical expertise. David is an ECB award winning Head Groundsman and a former Chairman of the countries First Class Groundsmen. His experience covers preparing some of the countries finest pitches for domestic and international cricket. He also acts has a Trainer and Pitch Advisor for the IOG/ECB.

Alan has worked in the turf industry for over twenty years achieving 'The Institute Of Groundsmanship Master Groundsman of the Year Award' in 1991. The country's leading lecturer on turf culture, he trains for the IOG at all levels. Alan is also completing his MSC Course in Sports Surface Technology at Cranfield University.

Technical Director David explains: "There is a tremendous need for greater technical awareness, research and practical solutions. TTS fills this gap by creating one central resource providing research to modernisation, training to students and linking customers to suppliers. Our vision is to build a highly respected professional resource capable of providing the five main elements of turf maintenance essential to sustain and evolve any sports turf organisation."

Fundamental to TTS's culture is its independence. The organisation is not tied to any individual supplier, but has established links with the IOG, sporting governing bodies, plus a variety of leading suppliers, equipment manufacturers and contractors.

David continues: "The five elements to turf care make up the departments of TTS consultancy: research and product development, ground care, training, and equipment sales. We offer the industry's first generation of MSC qualified turf consultants in a team that combines experienced practical groundsmen with in-depth technical knowledge.
