Leeds Rhinos opener gets the go-ahead

Press Releasein Rugby

The Super League curtain raiser between Leeds Rhinos and Celtic Crusaders will definitely go ahead after the Headingley Carnegie pitch passed an 11am inspection.

Head groundsman Jason Booth and his team had worked through the night to make sure the pitch was playable after previously removing over 500 tonnes of snow off the pitch earlier in the week.

Referee Ben Thaler, who will take charge of tonight's match, inspected the pitch at 11am on Friday and gave the game the go ahead after Rhinos Chief Executive Gary Hetherington and Celtic Crusaders Head Coach John Dixon had both checked the conditions out.
