More than just a magazine - Issue 128 - Editor's Foreword
As Pitchcare celebrates 25 years, I’ve found myself reflecting on a remarkable journey.
Whilst our cover article (from page 8) explores the people and milestones that shaped our history, I’d like to focus on the magazine itself. Since its launch in 2005, Pitchcare magazine has grown into far more than a publication. It has become a trusted source of information, a platform for discussion and innovation, and a place where the achievements, challenges and experiences of grounds professionals can be shared and celebrated. Throughout that time, our goal has remained simple: to produce content that informs, inspires and supports the industry.
The respect the magazine enjoys today is a testament to everyone who has contributed to its success. From our readers, contributors and advertisers to the countless industry professionals who have generously shared their knowledge and expertise over the years, each has played a part in creating a publication that continues to connect and strengthen our community.
As we mark this milestone, we are also pleased to unveil a redesigned Pitchcare homepage. The update delivers a cleaner, more intuitive experience and marks the first phase of a wider website development programme. Over the coming months, further enhancements will be introduced across the Pitchcare platform as we continue to evolve our digital offering and ensure we meet the needs of an ever-changing industry.
This issue also provides an opportunity to recognise the late Peter Britton, whose vision led to the creation of the magazine. His passion for the industry and commitment to quality editorial content helped establish the strong foundations on which the publication is built. His vision created a magazine that remains relevant, respected and valued today, and we are proud to continue that legacy.
Looking back, my time at Pitchcare has coincided with some of the biggest personal challenges of my life. My breast cancer diagnosis changed my perspective in many ways, and navigating treatment and recovery while continuing to work was a journey I could not have faced alone. Throughout that time, the support, understanding and kindness shown by the Pitchcare/Agrovista team reminded me that this is more than a business; it is a family.
As we celebrate this milestone, I’m incredibly proud of what Pitchcare has achieved over the last twenty-five years, grateful to have been part of that story for more than half of them, and honoured to play a role in taking both the magazine and wider Pitchcare platform forward with an amazing team. The industry has evolved enormously, and our print and digital channels have grown alongside it. As Editor, I remain committed to ensuring they continue to inform, engage and address the challenges of our industry.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Pitchcare and the magazine over the years. Here’s to the next chapter and to the people who continue to make this industry such an inspiring place to be.
