New compact Sod Cutters from Classen

The simplified machine comes in 5.5hp/HSC185 and 8hp/HSC188 versions feature short unit length and an integrated swivel wheel to make the Sod Cuttter the most compact and manoeuvrable in the industry, say Classen.

Certainly the rear swivel wheel makes turning easy to create curves and it also locks into place for straight cutting. Claiming the fastest transport speed in the industry the hydrostatic drive pushes the machine along at up to 4.7 mph whilst it delivers a cleaner cut. The blade is placed at the centre of the machine to ensure a more consistent cutting depth, making 20 cutting strokes per second/1,200 per minute. This yields altogether cleaner, smoother results. The standard 18" wide blade can be replaced with 12", 16", 20" or 24" (24" blade available for HSC188 model only) in a matter of minutes so there's a great deal of versatility across both machines.

Classen has worked hard to develop an advanced vibration dampening system for greater operator comfort and to contribute, alongside the speed and clean cutting, to a marked increase in productivity. For simple operation there is an integrated throttle/clutch control on the handle which goes idle and stops the machine when released and better traction is ensured with knobbly tread tyres which also eliminate dirt build up.

Both Classen models are powered by Honda engines: the HSC185 has a 163cc Honda GX160 engine and the HSC188 a 242cc GX240.
