Ombersley 0068.jpgAndy Halfpenny, the Course Manager at Ombersley Golf Club, situated in rolling Worcestershire countryside bordered by the A449 Kidderminster to Worcester road and the River Severn, has taken delivery of four electric RXV golf cars from TH White Ltd, the local E-Z-GO distributor for the region.

Ombersley Golf Club is a Pay and Play facility, owned by the Dowty family and renowned for year round play with only limited need for temporary greens due to its location on naturally free draining sandy loam. The course opened in September 1991; a year later the original clubhouse was built and then substantially improved in 2000.

Andy Halfpenny has worked at the club since 1991, arriving for the latter construction stage and subsequent grow-in. He manages a team of five; four greenkeepers and a permanent mechanic.

Commenting on the new buggies, he said, "We are gradually converting our fleet to include more electric golf cars which are now the most popular choice with our golfers. The four new E-Z-GO RXV buggies just purchased have new features which very much enhance the ride and performance and reduce damage to the course by preventing wheel spin and improving grip particularly on wet grass. Additional features including an automatic parking brake are very handy on sloping ground.

"The RXVs are always the first to go out; if our customers have a choice they will always go for the RXV first. If it's wet, then we only send out the RXVs, the others just can't cope. They go out every day, at least once. We have a rigorous maintenance regime, apart from the daily checks, where a thorough examination takes place every Friday, but to date we've not had a single issue."
