Syngenta will be launching a new fungicide with unique contact and systemic action at Scotsturf next month (Edinburgh, 5-6 November). The exciting introduction of Instrata will see the first new contact active ingredient for turf for over 25 years and will include the most comprehensive three-way activity, tackling all stages of the life cycle of a broad-spectrum of turf diseases.

Syngenta Technical Manager, Simon Barnaby reports: "Instrata is especially well suited to countering the specific turf disease risks and outbreaks typically faced on golf courses and bowling greens in Scotland and Northern England. With its broad-spectrum of activity, true contact and systemic action and the long lasting residual control, Instrata will prove an important part of future Integrated Turf Management fungicide programmes."

Furthermore, every greenkeeper and turf manager attending the Syngenta and Scotts stand at the IOG Scotsturf exhibition (stand E6) can receive a free profile of the physical disease risk that has affected their own turf this season, along with a programme of advice and measures to minimise attacks in the future.

Using the unique records of the GreenCast web site, the Syngenta and Scotts team, along with the help of leading STRI disease pathologist, Dr Ruth Mann, will instantly create a personalised disease profile for any course, or pitch from across Scotland.

The team will analyse what Integrated Turf Management (ITM) practices could help reduce the damaging effects of specific turf diseases and advise on the timing of targeted preventative fungicides to avoid attacks over the coming season.

"Reviewing disease risks over the past year is invaluable to assess the role of fungicide use in the past, and how they can be used more effectively to stop the damaging effects of disease," reports Simon Elsworth of Syngenta. "The economic challenges facing all sports facilities will put extra pressure on turf managers to justify all costs and to deliver better quality turf in the future."

To further gain the latest knowledge on turf management, all visitors to the Syngenta / Scotts stand can also enter a free draw to win signed copies of The Mathematics of Turfgrass Maintenance, by Mike Agnew and Nick Cristian and Fundamentals of Turfgrass Management by Nick Christian. Visitors will need to simply register their details on the stand and the draws will take place each day at 11.00am and 2.00pm.

The free personalised turf disease profile and advice is available on Scotsturf stand number E6, or visit www.greencast.co.uk for further information.
