New John Deere R47VE walk behind mowerJohn Deere has updated four of its petrol engine walk-behind rotary lawnmower models for 2013, with a number of new features designed to improve operator comfort and cut quality.

All four self-propelled models have a cutting width of 47cm and are suitable for use on lawns up to 1500m2 in size. They include the single speed R47S, the variable speed R47V, the variable speed R47VE with electric start and the variable speed R47KB with blade brake clutch -when released, this stops the mower blade but leaves the engine running. This useful safety feature allows the operator to empty the grass bag without needing to restart the mower every time.

The handlebar, mower deck and engine hood of these new R47 Series models now share the same family design as the rest of John Deere's comprehensive range of walk-behind mowers. For more comfortable and intuitive speed adjustment, the R47VE is equipped with a new variable speed drive. In addition, a more ergonomically designed lever makes it easier to adjust the height of cut on all four models.

Also new for 2013, an optional 'plug and play' mulching kit is available for all the mowers. This is extremely easy and quick to fit and remove, and can be simply closed off without needing to remove the TurboStar fan and fan housing. The integral TurboStar mowing system provides excellent grass lift and maximum airflow for a perfect cut and superior grass collection in all conditions, including damp grass.

The new John Deere R47 Series walk-behind lawnmowers are now available from the company's homeowner dealer network, with prices starting at £845 (including VAT).
