New MAJOR Equipment topper tackles extreme conditions

A new shredder topper launched by MAJOR Equipment offers 25% more output than conventional flail machines and shaves 30% off the cost of fuel.

The MAJOR 3000 Shredder Topper is a heavy-duty grassland mower that cuts grass evenly and reduces mulch to a minimum. It is ideal for set-aside sites, forestry margin management areas and sensitive environmental scrubland.

"We first tested the 3000 Shredder in the Netherlands on dykes and waterways," says the MD of MAJOR Equipment, John Murphy. "The machine has worked well in extreme conditions and we're confident that it could eventually replace conventional flail mowers."

With an optional bullet system incorporated from the MAJOR Maze Mower design, the machine can tackle tough conditions such as arable land, maize, rapeseed and shrub clearing.

The shredder is manufactured from Optimum 700 High Yield steel a high strength quenched and tempered structural steel. The shredder has three cutting rotors and can be mounted front or rear. The new swinging blade and under-sole anti-scalping disc also provides protection for the gearboxes and drive system using a patented internal bearing system.
