Notts Sport Scores 25 Years at the top of the non turf trade
This year, leading synthetic surfacing designer Notts Sport has something big to celebrate - 25 years of ground-breaking solutions that have revolutionised sports and play provision at every level.
Since the company was first formed back in 1984, Notts Sport's closely knit team has gone all out to become one of the most prominent designers of synthetic surfacing systems throughout the UK and Europe - and now plays a vital role in the global market too.
From cricket, tennis, hockey and football, to multi-use games areas, children's playgrounds and landscape installations, the Notts Sport name is now synonymous with dynamic design solutions and exceptional levels of customer care.
Shaun Patrick, Chairman and one of the family-run company's founders, says: "Over the past 25 years Notts Sport has made a triumphant journey with our staggering success and growth rooted in our customer-driven approach - indeed, this is one of the key reasons our client base and reputation have grown so strong.
"From the early days Notts Sport has avoided acting simply as a manufacturer, contractor or a conventional consultancy. Instead the focus has been on providing full and objective solutions, leaving the client in full control of their project, while offering them a guiding hand throughout the process."
The Patrick family formed Notts Sport in 1984 to market surfacing technology developed by Nottinghamshire County Council. Notts Sport then purchased patents from the council and began to cultivate early non-turf technology through its own research and development programme.
The UK business took off during the 1980s and early 1990s, with the development of the ChildsPlay playground surfacing and high-quality sports surfacing systems, which appealed to a much wider UK market.
With the new Millennium came new markets and today some 20% of the company's business is in exports. This is supported by Notts Sport's world-wide network of distributors, in Continental and Eastern Europe, North America, India, and the Far East.
The UK market continues to flourish, with Notts Sport now the preferred supplier of non-turf sports and play surfaces for many local and education authorities as well as enjoying an impressive client portfolio in the private arena, designing facilities for sports clubs at local, regional and national level.
Notts Sport also works with many national and international sporting bodies to develop sport and play opportunities for all. These include the England and Wales Cricket Board, the European Cricket Council, and the Federation of the European Play Industry.
"Notts Sport is one of the industry's most exciting success stories and has grown from a small regional operation to become one of the world's leading players," adds Shaun.
"The good news today is that we are continuing to expand through the recession, having recently launched our innovative Green Dragon Play system and an enhanced ChildsPlay range using NottsBase EPP, a new product which offers children the same safer surfacing while being quicker and easier to install.
"We have also appointed new Chief Executive Andy Carter to lead Notts Sport's UK expansion, and added two members to the ChildsPlay team to take new requests for these popular facilities.
"Notts Sport's rise to the top of the industry over the past 25 years has been very exciting for all involved and with our current recession-busting expansion programme, the future is looking very bright indeed."
