npower have launched 'What's Your Goal? 2012' - a nationwide work experience scheme which will provide work placements for secondary school-aged children in the UK, in partnership with The Football League Trust.

With youth unemployment statistics released this week expected to reach a record high, and the continuation of Work Related Learning for 14-16-year-olds currently under threat, npower is aiming to capitalise on its links with The Football League to provide young people with an invaluable opportunity to gain genuine work-related skills within the exciting environment of football.

'What's Your Goal? 2012' is being led by West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady and ex-player and media pundit Robbie Savage, and the initiative will see npower work with all 72 clubs in The Football League to offer over 300 work experience placements to school children in Years 10-11 at local clubs in their local areas. The diverse range of placements on offer includes roles such as community manager, club shop manager and groundsman, among others.

In addition to the local club placements, young people are also invited to apply for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend the day with one of the campaign's high profile national mentors including footballing titans such as Sir John Madejski, owner of Reading, and Cardiff manager Malky Mackay, as well as inspirational figures such as Sasa Ihringova, The Football League's most senior female referee.

Young people can secure the chance to be individually mentored by one of the 'Dream Team' national mentors or apply for a week-long placement at their local Football League club by clicking here and following a real-life application process, requiring them to submit a CV and a video demonstrating their enthusiasm and suitability for the role they're applying for.

Clare McDougall, npower's head of education and community, said: "Young people are currently facing a double whammy of high unemployment levels and the serious threat of Work Related Learning being abolished in schools. It's a real concern.
