One happy customer leads to another

The purchase by Saltash Bowling Club of an Allett C-20 pedestrian fine-turf maintenance system with interchangeable cartridge heads has led to the sale of an identical machine to fellow Bowls Cornwall member, Kensey Vale Bowling Club.

Secretary of Kensey Vale Bowling Club, Alan Addis, explained that the club had made the decision to go down the interchangeable cartridge heads' route following a demonstration of a competitor's machine on the club's green at Riverside, Launceston.

"It was clear that a machine with interchangeable mowing and turf maintenance heads would allow Kensey Vale to extract maximum practical and financial benefit from a single power unit," commented Mr Addis. "However, before we had placed an order, we learnt that Saltash Bowling Club had purchased an Allett C-20 and we were invited to visit Saltash on the day in early August that Allett was delivering and installing the machine."

Accompanied by Eric Harvey and Ivor Barber, the two club members with principal responsibility for looking after Kensey Vale's green, Alan said that the visit to Saltash proved extremely worthwhile, resulting in an order being placed soon after with local dealer, Masons of Chudleigh, for a new Allett C-20 with a 10-bladed cutting unit and powered turf groomer plus a powered verticutter cartridge head.

"We were impressed by the very same features that had convinced Saltash to order the machine," recalled Alan. "Notably, we liked the fact that the Allett mower is able to maintain a constant clip rate irrespective of its travel speed across the green. This means that different people can cut the grass at a variety of walking speeds and the consistency of finish always remains the same."

Other features that scored high marks with Kensey Vale Bowling Club were the impressive results produced by the powered turf groomer that lifts lateral growth

immediately in front of the cutting cylinder and the close attention to detail and technical support provided by Allett.

"There is no doubt that Allett is extremely supportive of everyone purchasing one of its machines, which are well built and easy to set-up and use," commented Alan. "Looking back, we are very pleased we made that 20 mile journey to Saltash back in August."
