We will be feeling the winter chill come the end of the month, with temperatures dipping into single figures. However, we haven't had a bad autumn, with some very decent weather, which will have been of great benefit to those groundsmen and greenkeepers doing their end of season renovations.
Despite a general view that groundsmen and greenkeepers can put their feet up come winter time, in practice nothing is further from the truth - there's loads to be done, and lots of potential challenges with floods and damaged pitches.
Our diaries will provide you with general advice and guidance on the sort of work you should be contemplating at this time of the year.
The advice is not set in stone; each facility and surface is different, so the experienced groundsman or greenkeeper will take on board whatever is relevant to them. For those who are less experienced, the diaries should be a useful guide for what should be done this month.
If you need any more specific advice or information, why not check out our Forum.
