Plumpton College will help to celebrate The Queen’s Diamond

Plumpton College will help to celebrate The Queen's Diamond Jubilee at The South of England show with a display featuring sixty years of farming. Displays will include a student restoration project of a Massey 35 tractor from the 1950s, a range of animals, horses, poultry, a sow and litter and a specialised, modern day ergo sports trainer, to bring the celebrations up to date.

The College has some thirteen stands and displays at the show, where visitors can drop in to meet staff and students and find the latest information about land based courses, apprenticeships and employer training. The award winning Plumpton Estate Wines at the English Wine Pavilion will allow visitors to celebrate the Jubilee with locally produced English wines, foods and drinks.

College staff and student show teams have entered into various competitions to demonstrate the wide range of land based courses, including floristry, young craftsman, rare breed pigs, jewellery, garden design, heavy horses, wines, cattle and pigs.

The College is currently celebrating, having won the 3ATC student forestry competitions within the UK as well as staff Hannah Gibson, a member of the College's admissions team, part of the Great Britain junior ladies team in the European Championships for Clay target shooting.

She recently competed in Cyprus in the Olympic Skeet Discipline and finished 11th overall from over 30 competitors, with Hannah and two other girls winning the team silver medal. Meet the College staff at the next Information Evening on 28th June, www.plumpton.ac.uk
