Ransomes Jacobsen dealer support is a key to sucess at Market Rasen GC

After sales support provided by RANSOMES JACOBSEN dealer, Lawnmower Services of Wellingore, Lincolshire is the driving force behind the successful relationship at Market Rasen and District Golf Club.

Head greenkeeper John Hewson and his four-man greenkeeping team use a fleet of course maintenace equipment that has a significant Jacobsen content and this season more equipment had been added.

"Second to none is the best way of describing the service we get from LMS," he said. "Dave Hampshire and his team are always willing to help us out; they will loan us machines, if required and they offer a reliable and very efficient service. We have taken this latest batch of machines to update our fleet and it includes the Jacobsen TR3 tees and surrounds mower, which is an excellent mower. The AR250, which we use for the semi-rough, is superb and has certainly reduced our maintenace costs since it suprceded the trailed gangs we previously used."

Market Rasen and District Golf Club was founded in 1912 and was a 12-hole course back in 1968, when John Hewson joined straight from school. It was extended to 18 holes in the early 1970s and currently has over 600 members. A heathland course, John and his team are actively encouraging the regeneration of the natural heather and are now thinning the trees from a previous planting regime to encourage new growth.

"We are scraping the top surface in various places, cutting the tops from the heather plants and leaving the sweepings on these areas. I'm delighted with the success rate," he added.
