Size does matter...
Iain Dowie has made the Ricoh Arena pitch the biggest in the Championship to give his Coventry City players more room to express themselves.
The Sky Blues boss demands a high level of fitness from his squad and the lengthening and slight widening of the playing area to 116 yards long by 75 yards wide is designed to create more opportunities for the strikers and stretch the opposition to the full.
Head groundsman Michael Finch was instructed to make the changes which make the pitch exactly the same size as Wembley, meaning it is large enough and eligible to satge full internationals and Champions League matches.
The ground has already hosted England under-21 and youth matches, as well as the Heineken Cup semi-final between Wasps and Northampton, earning rave reviews for its quality to raise the Ricoh's profile as an international venue.
But Dowie is more interested in the club's domestic programme and the lengthening of the pitch by six yards makes it the biggest pitch in the Championship.
