...to Colt original course

Steeped in history, Swinley Forest Golf Club at Sunninghill, originally designed by Harry Colt, required very sympathetic re-construction of the 4th green following many years of settlement.

"The objective of the green re-construction was to improve pin placements and water movement around the green," says Nigel Wyatt, Contracts Director of MJ Abbott.

"As it is a Colt original, considered to be one of his best courses, it was vital we did not significantly change the visual characteristics of the whole."

The green's surface was increased in playing area by approximately 120m2 and new drainage swales formed to help prevent further settlement and surface water running on to the green.

The existing irrigation system has been replaced with Rainbird 750 Eagle valve in head sprinklers. Re-constructed by cutting and filling with the local Bagshot sand, the original turf was replaced on the green following the works.
