STRI Maintains High Standards for Independent Testing
STRI retained their accreditation status to conduct independent testing of rootzone materials, as specified in the construction of USGA golf putting greens. A recent review included a full audit carried out by an A2LA Assessor, involving the assessment of STRI's quality procedures and ASTM (American Society of Testing and Materials) compliance.
This successful review demonstrates STRI has maintained its high standards and ensures STRI's place as one of only two USGA approved European laboratories outside the USA.
STRI has been involved in research and testing of rootzone and materials for golf courses since 1929. In 2001 BRTMA/British Rootzone Top Dressing Manufacturers Association) appointed STRI as their official independent Tester to improve standards in the industry.
Dr Stephen Baker, Head of Soils & Sports Surface Science at STRI is a member of the USGA Advisory Committee that drew up the current USGA recommendations. Full details can be found on the USGA website. Visit www.stri.co.uk and go to our links page.
