Study likely to be launched into Cardiff’s sports fields
A study of all playing fields in Cardiff is likely to be given the go-ahead this week amid concerns about the city's pitches.
It emerged last year that Wales' capital has just half the recommended public open space for sports and recreation as recommended by the UK's playing fields body Fields In Trust.
Parks football leagues have also said that overused and waterlogged pitches - some of which are used for matches four times in a weekend - are not up to standard and that junior leagues have difficulty finding enough pitches.
Cardiff council's executive will be asked on Thursday to give its approval to an audit of the availability and condition of all playing fields in the city and a study of the demand for them.
