Taylor backs new pitch and training ground to improve City chances
Peter Taylor has secured the two best captures of the summer.
The City boss has promised to take his time before delving into the player market.
But Taylor believes no new faces can trump the key additions already sorted for next season - a new pitch and training ground.
Renovation work on the much-criticised Valley Parade playing surface will begin a week on Monday.
Taylor admitted the poor condition of the pitch had played into opposition hands last season.
He said: "Managers who have come here this year have all said the same. It's an advantage to the away team when the pitch is getting cut up.
"It encourages the away team to play 4-5-1 and sit back. Then we've had to try and play football, lost a bit of confidence in it and the crowd start reacting in a negative way. It doesn't help the home team's performance.
