Technical Surfaces called in to save Sheffield College Playing Facilities
When the pitch at the stunning new £27 million Hillsborough College was damaged by last summer's devastating floods, synthetic surface maintenance specialists Technical Surfaces were asked if there was anything that could be done to help get the facility back up and running.
The short answer for the college unfortunately, was no. An assessment by one of their experienced Technical Consultants soon determined that the pitch was beyond repair and a replacement surface was the only viable option.
Technical Surfaces didn't leave it there. The National specialists strive to ensure that all clients' needs are met, regardless of the potential difficulties encountered along the way.
Their quick response to the Sheffield College's SOS (Save Our Surface) allowed AWS Landscapes, the company responsible for the facility at Hillsborough, to put into action their plans for resurfacing at the very earliest opportunity.
Already well aware of both the high quality of Technical Surfaces' work and the benefits of a consistent maintenance package (before the floods occurred Technical Surfaces were responsible for maintenance of the existing surface), AWS were anxious to secure Technical Surfaces' involvement before construction on the new facility was complete.
Tom Nott, Technical Consultant at Technical Surfaces who oversaw the project commented: "Following the successful installation of a 3rd Generation pitch in the early part of 2008, preliminary site inspections established the specific requirements of the new facility and allowed us to tailor a suitable maintenance package accordingly."
Andrew Sowerby, Director of AWS Landscapes, explained: "Technical Surfaces were quick to respond when flooding at the site left the last pitch in disrepair and upon completion of the new third generation surface we were keen to get them involved from day one to ensure that the correct maintenance programme was being carried out to the new pitch."
Maintenance on the pitch at Hillsborough College was implemented upon completion of its resurfacing which will help to give the college many years of life from their artificial surface - weather permitting!
