TerrainCut roughs mower features new rotary decks
First introduced in 2008, John Deere's 8800 TerrainCut Rotary Mower has been improved for 2009 with the introduction of new rotary decks featuring an innovative height of cut (HOC) adjustment system.
Intuitive and simple to operate without the use of tools, the HOC system uses a notch-based adjustment lever which ensures the decks' front rollers stay in place once the cutting height has been selected. This allows the height to be changed quickly and easily from 25 to 102mm (1 to 4in) in 6mm (¼in) increments.
Powered by a 43hp turbocharged diesel engine, the 8800 has five independent 53cm (21in) rotary decks, giving a total mowing width of 2.2m (88in). The strongly built, durable deck system is designed to cope with the demands of rough mowing while still producing a high quality of cut. A double-yoke mounting design means the decks have a full spectrum of flotation, independent of the hydraulic lift system, allowing operators to follow even the most demanding ground contours.
In addition, a double-acting steering cylinder enables the operator to achieve a straighter driving line with less effort. John Deere's exclusive GRIP all-wheel drive traction system ensures that sufficient hydraulic power is maintained at all times, to minimise wheel slip and maximise traction when mowing on any type of incline.
High levels of operator comfort and safety are provided by a number of other features common to John Deere's new golf mower range. These include ample leg and foot room, wide-spaced controls to suit all users, foot-operated tilt steering and parking brake operation, seatbelts, ROPS protection and even cup holders as standard.
Dual pedal controls also make forward and reverse movement easier than ever, and the CommandArm control console moves around with the driver's adjustable suspension seat. With John Deere's Sit-on-Seat (SoS) diagnostics and patented White Box™ Controller, users can also resolve technical issues immediately, without having to step off the mower.
Options include cruise control, a mulching kit, rear roller scrapers and alternative blades.
