England's most capped cricketer Alec Stewart attended the Sherriff Amenity stand at Saltex 2005.

Alec presented a certificate of achievement to John Vaughan - Davies for completing a year of the Surrey Groundsmans Association mentoring scheme. The Mentoring Scheme is designed to support canditates appointed by the Surrey Groundsman Association through a period of onsite training given by qualified and experienced groundsmen. The training covers all aspects of turf and cricket wicket management and ensures that lifelong learnt knowledge and skills are passed down to the next generation of groundsmen.
