Boughton Turf Management launch one stop shop enterprise.
By Laurence Gale MSc
Boughton Turf Management, the new brand name of Boughton Loam Limited held a successful open day at their Derby headquarters to launch their latest move into the selling and distribution of specialist turf machinery.
Company history:
Boughton Loam Limited was formed in 1985 operating out of Boughton Quarry in Northamptonshire. Within a couple of years the company expanded to larger premises in Kettering. From these premises quality turf dressings, rootzones, and loams were produced and distributed around the UK.
In 1992 the company acquired an established turf care company based in Buckinghamshire. This enabled a full supply of turf care products including, grass seed, herbicides and fungicides available to customers.
In 1995 the company then went on to set up a specialist contracting division, where they were able to offer a complimentary service for construction and renovation of sports pitches.
The continued success and growth of these three core services has now led the company to introduce their latest business development strategy. This focuses on the sale and distribution of specialist turf machinery from leading manufacturers including, Blec, Charterhouse, Campey Turfcare systems, TYM Tractors and Rytec Industrial Equipment Limited.
The company are confident that because of their vast experience of using these pieces of equipment, they have the expertise to recommend the right equipment to any potential customers.
Boughton will be offering a range of purchase /service deals allowing the customer to either buy equipment outright or enter into a rent / hire agreement that may better suit their needs.
To celebrate the launch of this new enterprise Boughton invited a number of business and industry associates to attend an open day that was held at their Derby based depot. The open day featured a series of out-door demonstrations of soil cultivations, aeration treatments and trenching techniques.
To complement the day a number of companies who work closely with Boughton Turf Management were on hand to promote their products and services.
Promoted on the day were the new laser guided Kombi Line marker and marking paints produced by Fleet Line Markers. DLF Trifolium also had a stand along with Vitax, both promoting their range of products. Hunter Grinders demonstrated a grinding machine and Simon Gumbrill from Turfworks was on hand to demonstrate their new triple mower maintenance cassette systems.
Gary Mumby was on hand to demonstrate some of the Blec machinery which included his new T6 cultivating / grading machine ideal for surface renovations. Charterhouse, TM Tractors and Ryetec representatives were also available to talk about their products.
Lewis Equipment demonstrated some of the latest pedestrian trenching machines now available. These machines will be of interest to many contractors, allowing them to work in small areas.
The day was attended by over eighty people, originating from both private and public sector backgrounds. The organisers ensured everyone was made to feel very welcome and provided a pleasant range of food.
The people in attendance left with a further understanding of Boughton Turf Management's strategy to serve all aspects of the sports turf industry and their capacity to supply and retail products, machinery, and labour services.
