Cork Sportsground Services investment in new deep aerator

John Burke, owner of Cork Sportsgrounds Services, the family-run sports contracting business, has recently purchased a Wiedenmann Terra Spike from Killarney based local dealer Seamus Weldon.
John, whose major business area is maintaining sports pitches and golf courses, opted for the Terra Spike XP8 which has a 2.1 metre working width.
"I had an older model, a P8 Speedlink, which served me well over the years", he said, "and when that needed replacement I didn't hesitate to contact Weldon's to see what the current machines had to offer. I was very impressed with XP8 as it is an extremely robust machine; it's ideal for contracting work with its heavier crankshaft and flywheel."
The majority of John's contracting work revolves around top dressing, deep aeration, grass cutting and drainage systems for sports pitches and golf courses.
Typical of his work is that at Beaufort Gaelic Football Club near Killarney, where he had spread 100 tons of sand onto the playing surface followed by deep aeration with the XP over the entire area.
"Setting up and adjusting depth and heave on this machine is very easy", he added. "The tine retainers are unique and simple to use and the anti-vibration system really does absorb a lot of the 'shock' that could be transmitted to the operator. Weldon's have been very good; they took my old machine in part exchange and I'm happy with the deal they put together. Add to this their superb customer service and I've ended up being a very satisfied customer."
