Ferrari does the job at Saints

Southampton's Grounds Manager Dave Roberts wouldn't be without his Ferrari.

It's based at the stadium and used regularly on the pitch at St. Mary's for aeration, brushing and spraying work.

The System 80, 70 horsepower tractor has wide, equal sized wheels allowing use in virtually all weather conditions without damaging the surface, while the articulated chassis ensures that the pitch isn't damaged by the vehicle turning.

Dave commented: "There are several other factors which led me to choose the Ferrari. It has a good power to weight ratio and the 60/40 weight distribution also means that we don't have to add tractor weights when lifting heavy implements, adding to the overall weight. For ease of use, I like the open cab and the reversible seat means that when we're breaking up cores for example, the implement goes over the cores before the tractor wheels, so the cores aren't flattened."

Lamberhurst Engineering supplied the machine, the first Ferrari to a Premiership football club. The model has now been superseded by the Ferrari Thor, a series of tractors that combines compact size and agility with strength and reliability.

Lamberhurst imports and distributes Ferrari and Holder tractors, Seppi and Berti agricultural and forestry mulchers, Malfos ditching machines, Pellenc vineyard tools and equipment together with Caffini sprayers in the UK.
