New distributor for Multicar
New distributor for Multicar
German based Multicar GmbH has appointed Wilkie Recycling Systems Ltd as a new dealer for their range of compact, multipurpose vehicles. Existing dealer, Alpha Plus Ltd, will continue to supply the vehicles in Scotland, while WRS assume responsibility for the remainder of the UK (including the Channel Islands & Isle of Man) and Eire.
Celia Norton-Blazejewicz, Regional Sales Manager of Multicar says, "We are all looking forward to working with WRS and I'm convinced it will be a very successful partnership. We will be doing everything possible to assist, when needed."
Multicar was first developed in Germany over 75 years ago and is accepted as a sturdy, reliable and versatile vehicle. They can be used 365 days a year, no matter the weather conditions and are as effective in pedestrian areas as in off-road applications.
A wide range of easy to change attachments and bodies gives Multicar such versatility. Grass cutting, hedge trimming, sweeping, chipping, leaf/litter sucking & collecting, lifting, grabbing, gritting, snow ploughing, refuse collecting/compacting, sewage cleaning, towing, soil de-compacting, spraying, transporting, 3 way tipping bodies, aircraft servicing, asphalt spreading and fire fighting are some of the applications for Multicar. Access platforms for people lifting can also be supplied.
The vehicles are available with a short or long wheelbase, two or four wheel drive and normal or extended cabs. A wide range of factory fitted options is available.
Being so compact, manoeuvrable and with a small turning circle, Multicar allows access to confined spaces, yet has a big payload capacity. The four-wheel drive versions have great climbing power and handle even difficult terrain with ease.
The long wheelbase FUMO (FUnction & MObility) model is only 4.82m long and 1.62m wide, yet has a gross vehicle weight of 5 tonnes. The towing capacity is up to 3.5 tonnes, with a total permissible total vehicle weight of 7.5 tonnes. Powered by a 105hp Iveco diesel, it has a 5+5 speed gearbox with crawler gear and top road speed of 55mph.
Driver and passengers have also been taken into account in the design. Power assisted steering is standard, the front window has excellent all round vision and there are glass panels in the lower door. The seats are adjustable and the cab has sound absorbing and insulating panels plus insulating mats.
WRS has recruited Brian Croll to spearhead the sales drive. Brian has been involved in agricultural engineering since leaving school, including experience in demonstrating and selling a range of all terrain tractors for the last few years. "He will be a valuable and important member of our team" states WRS Managing Director, Jim Wilkie. "The Multicar project is a bit different to what we are known for", admits Wilkie "but we will be handling it in our normal professional manner. Sales, service and parts staff will visit the factory for training. We will also be working very closely with the attachment manufacturers."
