New fairway mower for Royal Birkdale
New fairway mower for Royal Birkdale
The Royal Birkdale Golf Club, home to the 2008 Open Championship and one of the premier links golf courses in England, has taken delivery of a Jacobsen LF-3400 light fairway mower.
Commenting on the latest addition to his growing fleet of Ransomes Jacobsen turf maintenance equipment, course manager Chris Whittle commented,
"We had a prototype LF-3400 for the preparation of the course when we hosted the Open in 1998. We were very impressed with its performance and ordered one of the first production models in 1999. For the past five years it has been unbeatable; the reliability has been excellent, the quality of cut is superb; the maintenance is quick and easy and my greenkeeping team agree that it's the premier fairway machine in its class. That's why we didn't hesitate to buy another.
"We purchased the new LF through Burrows (GM) Ltd, Ransomes Jacobsen's dealer for the region, who have continued to provided us with really efficient after sales support. The true test of major manufacturers is the quality of their dealer network and Burrows have provided exemplary support to us."
The Weetabix Women's British Open takes place at the end of July next year and the LF-3400 will be used for the preparation of this prestigious event. It will also be used extensively when The Open Championship returns to Royal Birkdale in July 2008, the ninth time that the event will have taken place at the Lancashire course.
