Peter Knight is the founder of both Bury Turfcare Ltd and Genny Wren Ltd.

He realised very early on being in the industry of grass maintenance, that grass does not grow well in compacted ground, so he bought his first verti drain in 1992 and now owns five, from one of the smallest, to the biggest and heaviest.

Whenever using a verti drain he was always being asked to go deeper and deeper, but the problem was the depth required was deeper than is possible to achieve with a verti drain.

The issue that most people have is between 250 and 350 mm deep (10 - 14 inches) This is also very difficult to achieve with a verti drain, without causing a lot of disturbance and damage to the ground surface.

When visiting a lot of sites, most groundsmen and head greenkeepers told him that they do have a problem with compaction at these depths.

By using a penetrometer, he constantly finds this problem on many different sites and amenity areas.

There used to be a machine many years ago that hammered itself into the ground 16 inches, then blowing air sideways then lifting itself out of the ground, but it was unreliable and was eventually withdrawn.

Therefore, this left a hole in the market that Peter's Airjet Ground Aerator has filled.

It has taken more than 30 years of thought, experiment, determination, time and expense to perfect this machine, but it has now reached the ultimate in reliability and performance and the company looks forward to reaping the rewards for all the hard work over many years. Contact
