TORO Mowers help Cowdray Park Polo Club achieve 'best grounds'

Cowdray Park Estate, in West Sussex, has invested in a pair of Toro's big Groundsmaster 4700-D rotary mowers to cut its 11 polo pitches. Results have been so good that the world's No.1 polo player, Adolfo Cambiaso, said the grounds at Cowdray Park were the best he's played on this year!
The grounds, which cover a playing area of over 55 hectares, host the British Open Polo Championships (The Gold Cup), every year.
Jonathan Smith, golf course and grounds manager of the 16,000-acre estate, said: "With the size of the grounds and pitches, productivity was a big factor when I was looking for new mowers. I evaluated all sorts of ride-on machines and found the 4700-D the most productive with the widest cut. Also, the cost of new blades came in at very good value.
"But the 4700's blades can be changed daily if required, with little downtime. And we can maintain good presentation thanks to the rear rollers. Another good feature is the height of cut adjustment. It's quick and easy to achieve precisely the height we want (19mm), and it remains the same until we raise it in the winter."
Jonathan added that since using the 4700s, the grass leaf has been cut cleanly without any tip damage, giving the pitches an overall greener, healthier appearance.
The mowers were supplied by Toro dealer John Shaw Machinery.
