TORO Training Day a 'Reel' Success!

Students studying Sportsturf courses at Myerscough College attended industry supported training days covering cutting unit reel technology and developments organised by Lely TORO.

Malcolm Eckton, Sportsturf Instructor, took the lead and organised the industry sponsored day at the college for the students. He commented "This is just one example here at Myerscough of industry and education working together". He went on to add, "Students leaving the college to take up positions in the sportsturf industry benefit from being able to relate to current and up to date practices, that give them the edge to lead the way in industry".

These sentiments were echoed by Ian Sumpter, National Training Manager for Lely TORO, "We are keen to support the development of students and see this involvement as a real investment in the future of the industry, today's students are tomorrow's turf managers".

Along with Ian, Clive Pinnock of Lely TORO presented two one-day programmes, covering both classroom and practical activities, that outlined the set up and maintenance of cutting units which included the new TORO DPA units.

Graham Howarth, National Diploma in Sportsturf course representative, really enjoyed the day, "It was excellent and I found the information interesting. It was great to be able to meet people from the industry and see developments and improvements that are being made first hand".
