Tractor 'Walks On Water'

A Staffordshire turf grower is amazed by the low ground pressure exerted by his new tractor on his hallowed grass.

Nick Graham, Owner of Graham Turf Supplies of Abbots Bromley, situated midway between Stafford and Burton upon Trent, bought a specially adapted New Holland TN55D tractor from his local dealers, Campey Turf Care Services of Macclesfield.

The machine has over-sized front and rear tyres, which are claimed to give it the lightest footprint on turf of any tractor in its class. It also has a front-mounted Zuidberg 3-point linkage fitted in order to mount a packer roller prior to seeding.

"The tractor exerts so little pressure, it could almost walk on water," enthuses Nick Graham. "It will enable me to grow and mow my turf without making any marks on the surface."
