Penrhos3.jpgPenrhos Golf & Country Club is situated in 150 acres of lush countryside in the Wyre valley in west Wales and has a fleet of course maintenance equipment with a predominantly orange hue. This has been enhanced over recent months with the acquisition of additional Jacobsen turf maintenance equipment from local RANSOMES JACOBSEN dealer, David Evans.

Huw Rees-Evans is the Course Manager and a Director of the family-owned quality holiday destination and has added two new ride-on mowers and four additional golf cars which will bring added benefit to the course and the guests at the country club.

"I've taken a new Jacobsen HR 4600 triple deck rotary mower and a Jacobsen AR3 articulated rotary plus added four E-Z-GO petrol golf cars making our buggy fleet up to 16," he said. "This is the third HR 4600 mower that we've had here at Penrhos and it's a really great machine. Highly manoeuvrable with great traction, which it needs as we are a particularly hilly course, following the natural contours of the valley.

"The Jacobsen AR3, I am reliably informed, is the first machine of its type in Wales and is a highly impressive tees and bunker surrounds mower. We also use it to maintain the grass areas on the adjacent caravan park where we have facilities for 135 static holiday homes."

Penrhos Golf & Country Club has evolved over the past 40 years to become a high quality, family orientated holiday destination. Back in 1966, John and Elspeth Evans set aside some of their farmland and developed it into a caravan park for the tourists who were then discovering the delights of mid-Wales. 10 years later there were over 100 mobile homes on site and the family were also running in tandem the farming business with a herd of 120 pedigree Friesian dairy cattle.

Foreseeing the demand for increased leisure activities, in 1990 the family unveiled plans for expansion at the 9-acre site. The golf course opened in 1991 followed by the clubhouse and leisure centre in 1992, and at this time the family gave up farming to concentrate on their leisure activities. The latest addition to the business is 15 American-style luxury hotel suites which has again enhanced the quality of Penrhos as an holiday destinantion.

"Our aim is to provide the premier holiday resort facility in the region," said Rowland Rees-Evans, Managing Director at Penrhos. "This means a golf course that is well maintained as well as challenging, plus leisure facilities that all the family can enjoy and all contained within a beautiful countryside setting. To achieve this we need solid business partners and the service we receive from local dealer David Evans is symptomatic of our philosophy to meet this challenge."
