Christopher Tiplady was appointed to the full time post of general work based Assessor for Sports Turf at Reaseheath College in March this year. Previously the position had been part time. However, with the increase in work based placements studying NVQ levels 2/3 at Reaseheath the college decided to increase the post to full time, ensuring that the students get both continuity and full time support from an assessor.

Christopher is currently assessing over 40 students who are working and attending the college. The students are spread far and wide into the Cheshire and Staffordshire countryside working at various golf courses and sports turf facilities.

Christopher is no stranger to sports turf management having himself worked on golf courses for ten years, with his last post as assistant Head Greenkeeper at Bolton Golf course.

Christopher's primary role is to ensure that all the students achieve the targets set by the college. This involves maintaining good communication links between all parties concerned - the college, employer and the students. Christopher said, " It is very rewarding when you see the students achieving the standards, getting both job satisfaction and learning new skills."

Christopher is looking forward to the opportunity of working in an interesting, changing and challenging environment, together with working at one of the leading sports turf colleges in the country. He said the change of job has been very rewarding.
