Reaseheath Machinery Show becomes Victim of Weather

Press Releasein Industry News

Reaseheath College's Machinery Show is one of the latest victims of the unseasonably wet weather.

The show, which should have run at the Nantwich, Cheshire college on Wednesday October 1, has been cancelled due to waterlogged ground. The hands-on event was to have used the college's varied sports pitches and golf course for practical demonstrations of sportsturf machinery, but the event has been cancelled amid fears that the grounds will not recover.

College staff have personally contacted the exhibitors and have been trying to tell as many would-be visitors as possible.

Said Reaseheath's Senior Sports Turf Lecturer Gareth Phillips, who took the organisational lead on the event: "We are obviously very disappointed but our duty to our students and the members of our golf club must come first. We just didn't feel that the turf would cope with the traffic and footfall from such a big event. The Reaseheath Machinery Show has become a fixture in the turf professionals calendar and this would have been its fifth year in succession. We are now discussing plans for making it an even bigger and better event next year."
