Royal Ascot Golf Club has announced it is hosting a summer fete for all the community, to celebrate a special anniversary.

The event marks the 20-year anniversary of the Winkfield Road based club’s course set in 150 acres of wooded Crown land – directly opposite its historical home on Ascot Heath.

As part of the anniversary celebrations the club is opening its doors to the community for free for an afternoon of family fun including facepainting, food, games, sports, shopping, arts and crafts and lots more.

The showpiece of the day will be a dog show and locals are being encouraged to enter their hounds in the competition with categories covering best puppy, veteran, condition, rescue, crossbreed and pedigree.

Guests will also be able to try their hand at golf, supported by the club’s professionals, via some fun games and an interactive chipping experience for people of all abilities.

Royal Ascot Golf Club is hosting the free-to-attend summer fete as part of its community values building on its first ever summer fete last year which was attended by more than 300 people.

Stephen Nicholson, General Manager at Royal Ascot Golf Club, said: “We’re pleased to be opening the club to our community again this year via our summer fete and everyone is warmly welcome to join us.

“We’re proud to be part of the community and have created a day that offers something for everyone. It’s free to attend and there’s still time for people to have a stall or enter the dog competition.”

Visitors will also be able to see the widespread improvements that have been made to the course and its facilities, as part of the club’s ambitious regeneration investment programme. It includes a modernised clubhouse and patio area which has created an enhanced space for community and corporate events.

“A big part of our ethos is to make golf and the club accessible and our summer fete is a great way to do so,” added Mr Nicholson.

Local businesses and craft makers interested in reserving a free stall and those who would like to enter the dog show are encouraged to email enquiries@ragolf.co.uk
